A Report on Ball Fest 2008 - St Petersburg, FL
Steve and Mark of Little Treasury attended the Ball Fest in St. Petersburg, Florida, on August 7, the annual meeting of Authorized Dealers for Ball Watch. The event began in the afternoon with a session led by Mark Ofte, Ball's National Sales Manager, with a presentation and discussion of new models and various operational issues. I (Steve) was asked to give a brief overview of our Ball-related activities during our first year as an Authorized Dealer, especially regarding our Ball Watch Museum Tour and the B&O Railroad Museum event that we co-sponsored at the Museum with Ball Watch USA. This was followed by new product introductions. We got to see the new Aviator -- more beautiful in real life than photographed (and now in our store), a new Conductor chronograph, and a version of he Cleveland Express with a power reserve complication, etc. Although we were free to photograph, we feel it best to let Ball provide the photography for their new offerings. The highlight of the event was the evening function, poolside cocktails followed by a sumptuous banquet that included introduction of three key Ball Explorers: astronaut Owen Garriott, downhill speed skier John "Mad Cow" Hembel, and free dive world record holder Guillaume Nery. Each of these adventurers gave a brief presentation followed by a Q&A session. All are terrific speakers and are the "real deal" insofar as being true adventurers. Congratulations to Ball Watch for having such genuine and thoughtful spokesmen. Jeff Hess, Dan Hall, Jerry Sirois, and Damir Armstrong from Ball Watch USA were the hosts for the evening session.
